Frozen Flames
I’ve seen fire And I’ve seen ice But never in the same instant The fire began Raging and wild When it reached its peak Your snowflakes started to fall They faded my fire Freezing my flames My veins pumped the blood The fuel to the core of the fire Making it stronger But my heart was frostbitten Tainted by the horrid wind I reach out to you But slip on your ice Freezer burns The fire breaks Shattering as it disperts Sharp edges Jab into my soul Like razor blades, they cut at me Stinging and scarring me As I fall Frozen tears peer out of my eyes I breathe The bitterness of cold Caresses my lips I shiver Wrapping my arms around myself I blanket my soul I can no longer feel the fire It’s been completely destroyed No broken traces No open holes to crawl into Too late for safety You’ve frozen me With a fire so strong I can’t see how it can be demolished So suddenly, so instantly When I was so warm and content Then so rapidly bitter and frozen Cold and empty I crawl to you Asking for comfort and warmth You turn your head in shame I continue to fall Five feet under, I am So close to death So close to destruction Save me now or I’ll be gone I’m wasting away Don’t kill me this way Bring back the fuel for the fire I’m crying here on my knees To you You hold my heart inside each snowflake It can’t take the harsh cold It needs the warmth of a fire A fire you conduct A fire that feels so naturally perfect It’s too late now I’m below six feet and still falling I scream No longer to be heard Through my frozen flames I sink into darkness With my cold, lifeless being Alone Written December 28th, 2001 © on Dec 28 2001 03:39 AM PST 18 • 0 • 1
