Upside Down

A wolf howling into the midsummer’s sky Reminds me of that look in your eye And how you kiss me So distinctively So fulfilling Meant to be Yet I can’t take it Any longer I tell you to kiss me Deeper than you ever have before Because this will be the last time that I let you But you don’t Out of fear I cry out to you You sit down and cry Looking up at the pitch black sky Thinking of how crazy it is Wondering what you did so wrong How fear beats down and crushes the soul I gaze into your eyes You try to fight it And try to find answers You’re only left with more questions Answers only visible among the stars What’s happened to us? To our bliss? Our love? To our void? Can we give it all up? Should we give it all up? Do you ache for me? Like I ache for you? To feel you again Your thoughts Your touch Your love Your kiss Delicate fingertips upon my face Tantalizingly perfect What went wrong? All we know is We turned our love upside down Into despair Into everything it thought not to be And constantly we’re spinning on a carousel Going round and round in circles Never getting anywhere We were so pretty Picture perfect But it’s all turned to pity We smile at each other Through this madness And the excessive sadness And quietly whisper goodbye The final one The final kiss The final touch It begins to rain Pouring down tiny droplets of pain Reflecting how we feel For ending it all When it shouldn’t have never gone wrong at all It’s unbearable We kiss once more It was wrong, but unstoppable For our love Is still gently floating Around in each of our hearts It’s still inside of us How long can we ignore it? Not much longer What more can we do? For is this not true? All we can do is give in Give into the love Into the cold world around us But what would that prove? This whole thing was an elongated goodbye Unseen Unnoticeable Unknown We turned our world around Just to end up with a goodbye And now it’s upside down We could start all over again But would that ever cease the pain? The betrayal we feel? And if so, it would only end up the same as before One last and final kiss Goodbyea poem eric and i wrote together Written January 16th, 2002 © on Jan 16 2002 09:06 AM PST    18 • 0 • 8
