Hostage Situation

By The Natalya Project

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

My friends are out pillaging the city, And I'm at home waiting for my Thursday night lineup. It could be worse: I could have my tongue removed by psycho In a hostage situation. Thirty-seven months, two weeks, and five days - I've been in Hell a long time, but it's not so bad… I know a guy who gets me ice water for a pack of smokes. Yeah, I got my connections like the Shawshank Redemption, yeah. And they say I'm making progress. They say I might be out after my next evaluation. So call me back if you have the time. And if you ever change your mind, Don't hesitate to tell me that you're mine. And this may sound more than a little psycho, But I'm here watching the night go, And nothing else seems quite this important. So call me back. This city shines like Atlantis in the nighttime. I'm passing by the hooded guards that hate my friends and mock me. I'm letting go - I hate them back and they are Only made of brick and painted plaster. Morning comes as quietly as night goes. Been standing here a long time - think that I've been had. I know a guy who gets down with all the ladies, And he cares about their feelings, so it feels a lot less like stealing. Yeah. Memo to myself: Your muffins are burning. Memo to you: ! Memo to myself: I hate working! Memo to you: Call me back. Some things are gone, like Crystal Pepsi and my hairline. Some things remain, like the walls that trap me here in this, my Hell. Some things will change: I'll one day accept my fate and learn to hide Behind my walls of laughter. And they say I'm making progress, they say I'll be out soon. And they say I'm making progress, they say I'm almost due. These are the lyrics to a song off my new CD. Try and figure it out. It has a point and it's hidden in my big dopey prose. Written December 1st, 2000 © on Feb 15 2002 06:31 PM PST   0 • 10
