Letting Go
By thespin
I grasp you in my outstretched hand. Clenching you in my earth-bound fist. Holding you tighter and tighter. Afraid I'll drop you. Afraid I'll lose you. You struggle to be free. I want to let you fly. But I can't. If I let you go what will happen to me? You are my world. What is the answer? The solution? I grasp you with outstreched hand. I turn my earth-bound fist up,facing the heavens. Slowly opening my closed fist. You are there in the center of my universe. You are free to go or stay. I am surrendering myself. Letting you go. So that we can become one again.I wrote this when I was reading about The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. It was from there I got the idea for the poem. I am not sure if I made myself clear in what I was trying to say. Comments welcomed. Written October 26th, 2001 © on Oct 26 2001 12:35 AM PST 0 • 8
