What Did I Ever Give You?
By thespin
What did I ever give you that cost me anything? Not in money, but in heart. What did I ever do for you that you didn't repay a thousand times over? They say love costs nothing, but the returns are great. Love never cost me a cent because there was none to give. There was no deposits. No returns. Except when it came to you. You kept filling the emptiness of me with your love. And I ,like a hungry baby kept returning to your breast. I never thank you for that. I never said, 'I love you, Mother. Thank you for giving.' It's too late now. You are vanishing before my eyes and there is nothing I can do. You keep holding on to Life like it was heaven sent. Like some glorious valuable gift from the Gods. With all your pain, with all your sorrow, your hurt. Was it worth it, Mother? For what it is worth, I give you my love, Mother. Even a little love is better than none. You have given me Life. I wish I could do the same for you. I will always love you, Mother. Live long. PLEASE! Written November 23rd, 2001 © on Nov 23 2001 12:32 AM PST 0 • 1
