What went wrong?

By thespin

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I've said to myself,"I'll close the door." She never existed before." But things are never that simple. Nothing seems to change. Nothing is new. It's only a constant repeat of you. Your memory is burnt into the corners of my brain. And like some scheduled train, it stops, refuels, and moves on. It has been a long hard time. The world moves fast. but your memory lasts. A faint distance chime. A hundred different faces have come and gone. They leave me empty, always asking, "What went wrong?" I wish I could again feel. Nothing is real. Everything is cold. A heartless ordeal. I long for you in the night. I want to feel you beneath me, pulsating with delight. Oh, why can't you see? I need you to need me. But that could never be. You are forever gone. And I'm left alone asking, "What went wrong?" Written October 22nd, 2001 © on Oct 22 2001 07:18 AM PST   0 • 8
