wee kitten moments old pushed aside struggling silently still caught in tattered birth sac no breath sounds do i hear mother cat's decision made dare i think then to open heart inviting that one inside with whom even she will have no part as these thoughts fly warm rough cloth cleans sleek little body feather-light in my hand clearing all obstructions breathing into it love's command come back little one don't go away there's room in my cat world for another yet to play with all the catnip furrymice take breath then mew for me success at last air rushes into lungs expanding first cry the exhalation hunger so demanding back among her siblings she is gently placed scrabbling now for sustenance i know she'll win this racethis one is now a fine fluffy feline named minute :) Written February 10th, 2002 © on Feb 10 2002 12:35 AM PST   0 • 12
