Step into the Shadows

"I didn't think you'd understand" he said, while smiling...I just lied. Relief came through in his voice, my tears stayed locked inside. "You know I love you" he said, as he backed away, and the funny thing... I know he does, it just doesn't feel that way. So I'll step into the shadows here on lonely street... duck into the house of pain where aching hearts retreat. Someday he'll call me I know; but, until he speaks my name, I'll just count myself a loser in this cheating game. "You're really quite a woman" he said, I smiled and just agreed. "You know that when I have time" you're everything I need. So I held him close and felt my heart break as he pushed it to the side, then kept on smiling up at him, with the tears locked deep inside. Well, I know I love him all the same though our space is growing small, but i'll keep my hand in this cheating game... step from the shadows when he calls.all comments and critiques welcomed :) Written February 9th, 2002 © on Feb 09 2002 08:24 AM PST   20 • 0 • 1
