ruby wine in crystal glasses glowing in the candlelight a lover's assignation taking place deep in the night soft swelling strains Rachmaninoff began to fill our ears as violins intimated *uplifting* passions here scent of roses filled the room noses found themselves in tune with the kiss held as we danced 'cross the room ahhh...sweet romance THEN insidious intrusive noise shattered wine glass dripping red i woke to find myself clutching pillows in my bed alarm clock cutting buzz-saw edges through sensibilities brain scattering romantic dreams like dry leaves before a rain hitting "snooze five minutes" i tried to grasp this vision fine but it slipped from memory's finger tips onto broken glass spilled wine no use i see as ears pick up the news and world report violins dissolve to sports scores broadcasters wry retorts scent of roses turns to coffee as i further wake the kids want favorite cereals one's crying for some cake with bleary eye and heartfelt sigh i bid adieu to dreamland's lover... wishing for a little more time here beneath the covers glaring at the clock's smug face thinking of my love's embrace cursing silently time's machinery that stole this dream from meall comments and critiques welcomed :) Written February 9th, 2002 © on Feb 09 2002 01:38 AM PST 18 • 0 • 14
