Summer Dreams

Spring invites summer dreams And I long for fishing time... When you and I sit by the lake In solitude sublime. Quiet shaded coves invite us, To spread our blanket there, Near cool and quiet waters... Out of sun's bright glare. Before us, shining water surface Beckons dragonflies to dance, Among the scattered lily pads Breezes moved along by chance. Tree-frogs open chorus echoed By their water-dwelling kin; While sunfish break with silvered scales, Their home's aqueous skin. Brash cacophony of sound erupts From herons taking sudden flight, Into pine trees highest branches, There to watch approaching night. Still surface now becomes a mirror, Where sunset flames as disk of red, On waters shadow-darkened... Time comes to put the sun to bed. We linger in these twilight moments, As fireflies come out to play… And crickets tune for chirping This summer’s fishing night away.all comments and critiques welcomed :) Written March 21st, 2002 © on Mar 21 2002 10:40 AM PST   18 • 0 • 12
