you said you liked my denim jeans the old chambray shirt with worn-out seams you said there's nothing you would suppose like all the freckles on my turned up nose you said my black hair shone raven in sun when we brought our paired horses out for a quick run you said my soft voice caused you to sigh but there's something now that you're puzzled by we've been together all of these years and you've never ever seen me trailing tears down the tom-boy face you're so used to never once saw a sad look or me feeling blue now here at the last when you haven't a clue my lashes are wet as the woman breaks through it was i guess something you overlooked through all the years that i cleaned and cooked till you came home from a night on the town and found sweet joy in a pink cotton gown and the satin came through on my skin pressed close to you so warm and then the silk was the feel of my lips on your brow that's how i'd like to be kissing you now if you hadn't just told me goodbye caused these sad tears that now fill my eyes ending all thoughts of me and of you and right about here the woman breaks through boots scuff the dirt on the old country lane as i watch you leave my world fills with  pain this tomboy heart won't know what to do as this lonely woman the woman breaks throughall comments and critiques welcomed Written January 28th, 2002 © on Jan 27 2002 07:49 PM PST   0 • 1
