This Chocolate Devil Owns Me

Chocolate is my downfall, He's a devil in disguise... The serpent in my garden, Offering paradise. With Kisses wrapped in foil, He showers me with love… Then there's that ice cream bar, Whose first name is Dove. Midnight often finds me, As chocolate milk I sip… Licking that sweet syrup Off my fingertips. At breakfast he brings cocoa, Dutch chocolate delight! Warms me to my toesies, Like Almond Joy did all night. Coffee break brings doughnuts, Sure, they're chocolate glazed! Desire for them burns strongly, 'Till I’m nearly crazed. For lunch I’m apt to order, French silk chocolate pie. The flavor of that treasure, Sweet on my palate lies. Mid-afternoon, a Snickers, Brings out chocolate smiles. Then Twix starts to beckon, Its chewiness beguiles. Rush hour too, he's with me, His name is Hershey bar. I’ve stashed away this bonus, Hid it in my car. Dinnertime draws nearer… My plate holds chocolate cake. Sure enough, it's devil's food! He knows just what to bake. Now I lay me down to sleep, York Patties in my wake… A chocolate devil owns my soul, He’s offering cheesecake. I’m heading off to dreamland, It should come as no surprise… That while I sleep this devil, Tempts me in disguise!...this is an older challenge submission, that i got in a bit too late for competition...have since revised this piece, and would like to post it in hopes that someone might give comments or suggestions for improvements... ty... :) Written March 11th, 2002 © on Mar 10 2002 05:40 PM PST   18 • 0 • 14
