night zephyrs found my desert oasis when life was settled heart becalmed in the barrens of my own choosing this world held camels tied date palms fruited heavy overhead with the efforts of saying no all these years one evening's dusk brought cool refreshing air curling taunting tempting fingers rushed into my tent visions formed where sand shifted into shapes of pillows men and stallions running free into darkest night i listened closely to the wind then i saw the scorpion with his curved tail from the corner of my mind deadly sting i know... but with the night a song has come old yet timeless sing the words play the music i hear then dance before the firelight knowing the risk i take of dying before dawn i beg this final moment give me innocent and dark at the same time set me down before i fall into the hourglass where my own sands run out before my eyes i plead the wish to have once more the time of youth not caution blinded to such light as this shining on one who slays the sun rising with the moon unknown into my well of comfort when i sleep each night beside still waters before my eyes images move faster wind current carries me along clouds of stormtime raise and gather thunder roars lightening strikes the faithful saber that i carry charged with good and evil forces offered here my own place to sit among the kings dreaming nomad honored paying homage where multitudes have knelt before this altar pressing to my senses crying wind images say stop rest here no need to mind the moment given i can't walk away from this last chance to see the desert blossom with the dewcomments and critiques welcomed Written January 26th, 2002 © on Feb 01 2002 05:40 AM PST   18 • 0 • 8
