Writer's Block

By tigerlilly

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I’ve spent the night conversing With the MS paperclip… Blank document in Word waits, He says, “Let her rip!” I told him that I would indeed, Dance my fingers 'cross these keys, Filling pages with sweet words; But inspiration flees. Well, he scratched his head, Raised his brows, blinked his beady eyes; Then sat looking sideways, As if this was no surprise. He’s seen me sitting mind-blank, So many times before… Giving me a look like “Gee whiz! Wish I could help you more." "There’s that folder on your desktop, You’ve filled with false starts, dim hope, When lack of inspiration… Made you wish for hangman’s rope." I see you shrug your shoulders, Like me, ideas... you have none. It must be time to go to bed, Writer’s block has won.all comments and critiques welcomed :) Written March 2nd, 2002 © on Mar 01 2002 05:38 PM PST   18 • 0 • 14
