Hyperindividualism

By Timothy Cameron

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Even the Land of the Free Which both you and I love Can't stand Hyper individualism… Forever. Intrinsic error begins In school, where An inquisitive Athlete possesses better odds Of discovering the truth Than does genius with pathetic character. If the End Receiver ‘fears the hit’ Of the Defensive Back He may look elsewhere, Miss the ball, And not attain ANY aspiration. Balance half the day to valor, Impart the other half to edification, or suffer a Fragile character, bent to Suspect action to death, forbids Exploits, whether yours or his or mine or God’s,  For pruning hurts. Strong character, Finds action delicious, And even yearns for it. Army generals and good coaches Orate objectives, rewards & purpose, Rather than focus on possible injuries.  Trepidation triggers Renunciation With compunction. Theory of functioning Requires Contempt prior to investigation, and Is no better than Contempt prior to Instigation… And ‘quitting before the miracle happens’. The beginning of all indulgence reasons to Proudly posit the idea, that ‘Conveniencing oneself, While inconveniencing others” Is NOT the original sin. But it is. Your pain ALWAYS equals mine, If I love you. Screw hyperindividualism. Written November 25th, 2001 © on Jun 07 2002 07:24 PM PST, Timothy G Cameron    10 • 0 • 9
