The Carving of Life
By Tina2
To walk about in the land unknown, looking for a lonesome throne. Where do we look, which road do we choose? Do we give our all, without fear of what we may lose? Does one trudge upon muddy waters looking for a cure? Does one venture into a land, where hungry alligators stir? Does one climb upon vast scrapers piecing together another’s soon to be new home? Does one venture into the forest of the unknown? Sitting at a desk, putting tiny microchips in place. Putting make-up on a dead persons face. Flipping burgers, bagging up fries. Standing in a courtroom telling little lies. Blowing a whistle as you run back and forth. Calling up clients giving them their report. Typing really fast as the criminal faces life. Each day facing someone in a chair that wants to tell you about his strife. Riding around looking for someone breaking the law. Petting the angry dog as you trim his little claw. Running around back and forth as a new emergency arises. Filling kids birthdays with lots of little surprises. Standing behind a desk, stamping boarding passes. Wearing leotards trying to motivate people to get up off their as&*(. Standing inside a factory that is about 120 degrees. Being on film dropping to your knees. Scaring yourself to death by thoughts you write down. Walking around with your face painted white, trying to diminish each frown. Talking to plants helping them to understand their meaning of life. Always saying to someone, congratulations you are now husband and wife. Driving people around having lots of five minute conversations. Answering frantic callers listening to your station. Broadcasting live all the bad things that happened in the world today. Making sure all the little kids have enough room to play. So what is this goal, this mind set for the pursuit of happiness? Is it our dream job? A family? Maybe what you have, you want less? Goals and ambitions never seem to cease. So will one ever completely have peace? Material gain is very hard to achieve. So what’s the big deal, when you can’t take it with you when you leave? By the time you are set and where you want to be…… Someone will show up and say, “It’s time to come with me.” “But what about all this?” You will say with a frown upon your face. Depending on who is greeting you he may say “Hey you haven’t seen my place.” The pursuit of happiness is that a question or a falsely acclaimed dream? Could it be another demented picture of life that falls into the scheme? Everyone in this world would change something in their life if they could. The real search is…Happiness is a pursuit…..of someone who worked with wood. Written October 20th, 2001 © on Oct 20 2001 05:22 AM PST, Tina Leonard 0 • 13
