A Day At The Pier

By TractorMan

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Back some Summers ago When I was an older lad I would borrow the car keys From my dear old dad Head across the bridge And down Commerical street Park the ’70 Maverick Where land and ocean meet Take in the salt air Along with the sunny day Get out the rod and reel Find me a spot on the pier to stay Nice shiny jig At the end of the fishing line Reeling in the Mackerel It was just a matter of time The bay was bustling with Tankers, tugs and sails Red and yellow ferry boats Out to the islands with mail As the tide was coming in And fish hitting the lines All of us that day were Having the time of our lives I sold my catch for a nickel a piece To folks passing by the way Bring a few home for mom to cook And do it again the very next day Written November 7th, 2001 © on Nov 07 2001 04:02 AM PST   0 • 10
