Island Life
By TractorMan
Rising from the ocean Three miles from the coast Stands a tree-covered island Of which now I boast All over that island I played When I was but a small boy Exploring the many tidal pools Was one of my great joys Exploring the old lighthouse And around it I would roam Still standing as a guardian Leading sailors safely home Through the seasons we lived Though not always pleasant The winters were pretty rough And the wind seemed ever present But nothing seemed so awesome To watch waves crash high on rocks Even when we knew our way To the mainland was blocked And so years later still here I live Perhaps even a little more bold Hoping to pass on this great way of life To my kids as they grow old Written October 29th, 2001 © on Oct 29 2001 04:34 AM PST 0 • 10
