Quiet Road Home

Calm overcast day As I drive past a farm Contemplating the season of winter My head supported by my arm Down a winding country road Covered with well packed snow Slowly taking in the scene As around a lazy corner I go Looking out the window of my car At cows gathered in the field Eating next to an old mesh fence Feasting on their noon day meal The farmhouse on the corner Nestled in some covered pines And hanging from them sparkling Icicles frozen to power lines Slowly by the large white barn Standing near a grain-filled silo Along with a well-kept stable For all their work horses to go Past them all and down the way Through valleys and over some hills I take my time on this country road Just relishing in the thrills This road I travel almost every day Savoring the moments alone Enjoying nature’s elegant beauty On this peaceful and quiet road home Written October 11th, 2001 © on Oct 11 2001 05:51 AM PST   0 • 10
