The Lake
By TractorMan
The kids are ready Smiles abound everywhere A hot day in July Electricity is in the air The car is packed And we’re finally ready Out of the driveway We glide slow and steady Suitcases and inner tubes On top of the car rack Our eyes are ahead With no looking back Out on the road The 302 we take A couple of hours later Pull into the lake The kids jump out And scream as they run Leaping off the dock they go To begin their fun In the water all of them swim Jumping and diving They yell ‘Dad, Come on in’ While the dog looks for shade To rest his tired bones My wife and I are grateful For our peaceful Summer home To leave the bustling city With its noise and traffic lights To retreat to the county Has us feeling just right I’m looking forward To some quiet and rest Lakeside with my family Is life at its best Written November 15th, 2001 © on Nov 15 2001 12:48 AM PST 0 • 10
