Dark and Splintered Heart

By Walter Burns

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Is love a dark and tendered heart A paradoxical support That holds the plain and splintered world In lieu, in elder, timeless court If love is filled in tankard’s breadth And mixed with measured cups of pain To add an ounce or maybe two Would make it sweeter, slow to drain Is love a thing to banter ‘bout As if it’s folly, man should seek To craft a world that’s steady thus A marriage formed of bold to meek Written March 31st, 2002 © on Mar 31 2002 02:17 PM PST   0 • 10
