High Above the Foam Swept Shore
By Walter Burns
I remember well that moonlit night My eyes were touched with a second sight I had come to face a lonely death To find my peace in a dying breath As is the case so often thought The last place I looked I would have caught The one so long been searching for High above the foam swept shore I assumed I'd travelled everywhere For one I know was always there And in each eye a blazing star This time they did not seem so far She raised me high into her hands Lifted me up and made me stand To fly across the boundless skies I could only stare into her eyes Inside I saw where sorrow slept So many tears that she had wept Into the cold and salty sea Never again to be for me She set me down in a field of snow Then i saw that she meant to go Such a feeling to realize The last I'd look into her eyes I cried to the heavens from my soul That she'd come back to make me whole And as I screamed into the night I saw two stars shining bright And though my heart felt so hollow I just knew I had to follow The path that stretched far from view The path that led me here to you Standing so proud with you my love Eyes as brilliant as those above That keep there vigil forevermore High above the foam swept shore © on Jul 02 2001 01:07 PM PST 0 • 12
