Only Child (Only Read if Only Child. If Not I Know You Will
By Walter Burns
...Anyway You Brat) I’m a messed up individual I don’t have a place to begin You see I don’t have siblings No nutty folk to call kin I’m an only child Of an only child Of an only child My temper is wild! You see it’s a shame When your dolls have names You’re a twelve-year old boy and you still gottem So estatic they’re signed all on their bottoms Monopoly and twister With no brother or sister Who spins the board? Whose hand’s on blue? Who gets to be banker? Who gets to be shoe! Who really is winning? When it’s me against you! I guess I’ll be spinning What else can I do! My baseball and glove Ball drops from above No umpire will doubt He’s safe! He’s out! Really quite eerie I won the World Series What else to make up? Slapshot from the hole Now the Stanley cup! Then the Superbowl! But then there is Christmas When I run to the tree There isn’t a mix up All the gifts are for me! Every race I’ve entered I’m the winner-to-be I’m so self-centered When it’s me against me! I never drove a kid sister up to the mall Not knowing her any, I haven’t missed her at all My big brother never took me to show and tell Matter of fact I think I’ve turned out quite well See here is the problem it’s been mounting for years My wife has a sister and several cousins as peers And I must be cordial when they come over to stay When they get on my nerves I can’t hide and go play I bring out the monopoly and I bring out the twister My wife rolls her eyes and the laughs from her sister An only child makes social disaster somehow So I phone my mother, “Make me a sibling right now!”Another one that is a lil messed up so give it a break :) Written July 4th, 2001 © on Jul 04 2001 07:38 AM PST 0 • 14
