Punk Rock Against the Government

By Walter Burns

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Bloodshot engineers Try to manufacture fears Because they know how it feels To run on cogs and gears and wheels And they won't sleep at night Till they get it right They won't sleep at night Till they get it right I enjoy punk rock and a rolling stone But sometimes I wish, they'd leave me alone All those volatile guilty pleasures Like saying things that don't mean much at all Staring at the ceiling and wondering at the walls I want to crash and bash and slash At each established backstablishment But now I've been told to wait in line Sign up for duty and put away the signs Everything seems to be quite worthy Punk rock against the government Now we work side by side How can you train those men And teach them how to hide? Admiral we have a major development There's a hole in our armor Save all the kings and queens And kill the moisture farmers Bloodshot engineers Manufacture fears As my children often say Daddy, Your ties not on straight Wait until they see What's been hiding inside of me.
