Stress
By Walter Burns
STRESS No naked toddler ‘round the house Streaking by with chasing spouse No pressing matter of the state T-Ball practice, how we’re late For that matter tennis camp Swimming class, saving stamps Acting, dancing and art school Run me round like I’m a fool Wake up, Gas, and pay the bills Live a life without the frills Feel the throb that’s in your feet Traffic Cop pulls o’er for speed T-Ball practice was called off Eldest son develops cough Go to doctor you don’t like You don’t want to? Take a hike! Remind yourself to smile at kids They won’t think that monsters live! Hug and laugh and wink at spouse Say you wish to stay from house Eat at place you can’t afford Look at price say, “Oh Lord!” Pay with card at least you tried Laughing waiter, “Card denied!” Lay in bed and cry to sleep Listen spouse can also weep Reach on over and give a kiss Run through house while doing this Pick up kids and bounce on knee Hug a spouse and then a tree For all that’s life is under roof And stress relieved is all the proof. If you have no kids and spouse Maybe lonely is your house Mom and Dad don't get along? Maybe stress is all that's wrong See the signs and know there's care Behind the bitter that is there Soon they'll know that you adore Just throw a smile or do a chore Stress is something we endure Only treatment not a cure Stop and breathe and then press on And curse at cop once he's gone Written June 26th, 2001 © on Jun 26 2001 09:57 AM PST 0 • 14
