Morning After Mustings

By wanderingpoet

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Reading the words you speak to me Feeling the excitement in your voice The passion, the challenge Hearing your happiness in your letters And knowing yours smiling brings me light And yet a dark shadow sweeps over my soul As denied knowledge suddenly comes to light Through the words and hidden thoughts Differences in tones through poem after rhyme I still have to face the facts I can’t touch you like they can. I can’t inspire you like they do… I can’t challenge you like they will… I can’t fulfill you like you want… Depressing realizations flood in my mind As I realize the pain I have caused Stumbling through hidden forests dark Somehow I pushed us into the thorns. We don’t talk much anymore We only scream and fight We only make ourselves more miserable We can only find ourselves away from the other I guess what I’m trying to say is this… It feels like it’s over… I’m not what you need… So I pack my things and go… And allow you to live… Written April 5th, 2002 © on Apr 05 2002 03:59 AM PST   18 • 0 • 1
