Would You?

By wanderingpoet

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

What if I told the ape to play nice? What if I told the bird to fall into a cage? What if I told her? I don’t know. Laughter rings in my mind As I hold the black rose to my chest. Crumpled and fragile, The scent gone from it’s petals. What if I told the rose to come to life? What if I told the rose to turn red? I don’t know. Impossibilities enter into my mind. My weary fingers reaching for the keys As I type simple letters to the page. It is only a page. It is only a program. What if I told you I missed you? What if I told you I loved you? Even now. Even now? Would you laugh to? Written March 3rd, 2002 © on Mar 02 2002 03:27 PM PST   18 • 0 • 1
