'Mother or Stone'
By WindDancer J
“Mother or Stone” You don't owe me anything, not even a son’s care. I'm just a woman who gave you life, with pain did I bare. Don't bother to share a moment, when you see I'm all alone. Just think of me as a statue, something made out of stone. I don't have feelings to hurt and I don't need your love. Dust me off if you like or leave me on the shelf up above. Keep reminding yourself that you don't owe me anything. When I die, just burn me, and throw me to the four winds. You don't owe me anything, not a moment of your busy time. Forget that as a child I read stories that sometimes didn't rhythm. So go on with you life, have fun and forget that I even live. For someday you'll have children, and the same to you they will give. Am I your mother or a piece of marble stone? Sitting here hoping you’ll visit so I won’t be alone. I know you’re your own man going on your own way. But, it won’t hurt you a bit to think of me from day to day. *******How does this poem make you feel? I wrote this for my son. Written November 11th, 2001 © on Nov 10 2001 11:09 PM PST 18 • 0 • 1
