'The Holiday Blues'

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

“The Holiday Blues” The time of Christmas has now come near. It should bring happiness and a little good cheer. For me it’s a time of sadness and so many tears. For my love one is far from me, again this year. The Christmas tree sits empty with all its bright lights. The children sing Christmas songs each and every night. Why is this time of the year so unpleasant and sad? Why can’t I find a little comfort or something to be glad? But all I can think of is of a time long ago. When life was so simple and I had so much to show. Alone in my room I contemplate life’s irony. And discover just how people can be so phony. Glad tidings, good cheer, they wish everyone. Happy holidays to all; even those without love ones. But a distant they do keep, never getting close. To see the sadness in the eyes of many of those. So Merry Christmas to one and all, to all of my friends. Happy New Years I wish you, especially you at the end. Although Christmas won’t be Merry or our New Year too. Remember you’re not alone and this holiday will be over soon.Just tell me how the poem makes you feel. Written November 11th, 2001 © on Nov 10 2001 10:55 PM PST   0 • 1
