The Run

By winter jazz

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

A run in the night Felt the cool wind blow The world started spinning Spinning out of control I turn around And saw that the sea was dark People were fishing But blood was gushing From the sea, from the ground And from the creature that emerged Deep from the dark seas Desperately trying to get a grip To grab hold of my sanity Instead I committed worldly sins And lost my salvation. I prayed, and prayed, and prayed But my bible was burned By the hatred and the angst The world has left inside me Now hope was rapidly diminishing And life was creeping away. I questioned life, and questioned fate I saw the stars, but felt the darkness I spin and spin, round and round But the world stopped turning And judgement day arrived "Stop it" I exclaimed A cry from within "The world did not stop for me It's me that stopped believing" My eyes were closed My ears were locked The air that I breathe in Simply rejected me. I reached out, someone touched me It was the bible that was never burned I felt the heat, but not from burning The heat is not cold, but full of warmth And then I realised As I looked into the sky The night is over And the sun... Finally rises Before me I stood The heat enveloped me Took me by mercy. I am ready. Written October 27th, 2001 © on Oct 27 2001 03:25 AM PST   0 • 13
