Ignorance
By Woohooblah
We run in circles Trying to figure things out By the time we begin to understand It’s our own kid’s blood flowing in spouts As we’re looking for answers Trying to figure out dimensions Our children slip away From lack of attention A ten year old Still nothing more than a child Blows away his sister Its just another problem filed At this very second As your reading this line One more little girl forcefully taken Left in the corner cryin’ Open your eyes Stop ignoring these cases Do something about it It’s our kid’s lives we’re wasting It isn’t hopeless We can’t let it be These little people Can set this world free If we show them now That the future can be bright Maybe they wont be so willing To give up the fight An extra hug before bed A few questions about their day Reading along with them Going to their school play All these little things Mean the world to kids Shows them there’s hope Gives them confidence A few extra words Few more minutes out of your day Is that really so much to ask? Lets try to listen to what they have to say As you run off to the office Did you happen to hear? Your little girl say "I miss you" Did you see that tear? Did you hear your son’s cries for help? In those difficult teen age years All his questions unanswered By himself having to face his fears The last thing he thinks "I’m not worth it, no one cares" As he ties the rope around his neck Last memory is of the time you once shared Now that he’s gone You sit there and cry Your only son gone forever With a gag, he said his last good bye Written February 14th, 2002 © on Feb 13 2002 07:45 PM PST 0 • 10 • 1
