Blackberry Smiles Perserved

By Blushfulmoon

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Under the sun with childlike laughter The small child grabs the blackberries through the vines of green. Then mama's fingers with a graceful grasp Shows eager hands how to pick vines clean, Later on that day the harvest is done In big brass ringed jars, Now the pantry is overflowing For months to come on winters end The will have blackbery jam when outside it's snowing Day old crust leaves a small trail, But a smile appears on mama's face As she recalls the silver pail Jars of blackberries well now perserved, Holds  blackberry jam and many a smile Whenever her table is served Written March 21st, 2002 © on Mar 20 2002 06:03 PM PST, Susan Vessels   18 • 0 • 12
