~~The Bag Lady~~

By Blushfulmoon

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

The little old lady rushes across the street, Hoping once she is there she will find something to eat She stoops over from the weight of her garbage bag That's slung over her shoulder, and tied with rags It's her worldly belongings she carries around With trinkets or such, she's either stolen or found She travels each day, many a mile, No one looks at her, nor even smiles She looks for a place to lay down and rest, A cardboard box is what she will find at best, She once had a good life, but before her it flashed Now it's gone, Due to economy's crash © on Feb 08 2002 04:42 PM PST, Susan Vessels   other • angst
