The Country Store

By Blushfulmoon

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Remember Those country stores With wooden floors Iceboxes That sat outside Bolts of calico Cologne and porelian dolls Adorned the store with wooden floors Licorice, and jellybeans in huge glass-filled jars Flour and country eggs Sat upon the bar Speckled-blue water basins with a dipper Quenched the thirst For the neighbors who walked To the country store No, now not many of those country stores with wooden floors Are to be found Instead we have Flourescent lights Automated machines Frozen foods we find Galore Coke machines With talking voices No bolts of cloth To be found No not nary A country store With wooden floors Are to be found!
