~ Just One Wish ~ ~ on this birthday ~ If I had one wish today, love… It would be to receive your smile; To feel the love from deep in your heart, Surround me and hold me safe and close, And let no hurt or sorrow near. Just one wish…to unlock the door That stands closed tight between us, And let me know again your love for me, For my heart so needs to touch yours again. If a wish so deep and true Were laid in sweet hope, at the foot of God, wrapped humbly in my pleas, wet with my tears of yearning, would my wish be granted? would you hear this prayer, too, and turn to me one more time my dear, my heart…and say “I love you”? If indeed I were to wish just one wish this day Before the light of day leaves the sky to the night, I wish I could only spend a time with you, dear one, And be reminded of how we both felt then, When first we talked…and how I still feel So great a love for you…truly a love that will last. I still feel you, drawing near me, Yet fearing to get too close; Fearing you’ll be expected to give too much, But giving a glimpse of the sweetness that Shines so radiantly from within your soul.
