I Am Perplexed

By bonnie blue

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I am perplexed by the notion That love in its pain is all the more precious For the stone it places in a sad heart. I am perplexed at the idea That hatred can grow so rampantly In the human soul, where it is alien. I am perplexed knowing the power Of the human mind, with such potential; Rarely reaches the zenith of its vision. I am perplexed at our blatant disregard For the earth, our Great Mother, who weeps As we poison her body. I am perplexed by our greed for material things When we have been given everything We will ever need, and then some. I am perplexed by the lack of gratitude That we give to God, who gave all to give us life And the free choice of how to live it. I am perplexed I am saddened I am afraid I am wondering… Bonnie Cook 20-Apr-02 Written April 20th, 2002 © on Apr 20 2002 09:04 AM PST    0 • 13
