I Try

By bonnie blue

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I try not to let my heart beat too fast When your words grip my heart so tightly That it feels they will pull it free of my chest… I try to be calm, unheeding of the way You glance my way, pretending not to look, Yet knowing you see my longing for you. I feign nonchalance when I hear your name, So that no one guesses my sorrow at losing you; I can’t let on how this pain undoes me I want to be happy in all the gifts of life; Though the one I miss most is denied me… The light of your soul’s brightness… I strive to forget…but I can’t…I still miss you… I still need your love so deeply That it shatters me from inside out… I am trying to tell you, my love, Of the loss, the aching loneliness, The deep and profound anguish…of missing you...
