Portent of Evil
By bonnie blue
The demon is come. It creeps boldly in, Brazenly showing itself Just enough to be seen Out of corners of eyes. It touches things And leaves a mark, An indelible stain: Putrefaction. Madness. Watch closely its movements, As it slithers about In its sick quest. It is very clever; Be on guard for your very life. It wants to know Your weaknesses. It seeks your hidden entries. I pray you, do not reveal them; If you do not guard against it, It will penetrate your defenses Before you know it’s invaded you. If it touches you, You will never be free Of its stench. It will own you. Don’t let it in. Don’t let it near. Keep your fences closed and Your windows barricaded Keep it out. Keep it at bay. Bind its hands And shackle its feet. Cast it out, Deprive it of life. Demand its departure! Drive out This sinister being of evil!
