Something I Circled in my Notebook

By Brad Kelly

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Anger shakes my telephone pole                 breaks the calm                 Interrupts a consistent flow                 of information from the distance                 to this point and beyond                 Anger blows my tire on the road,                 I can only ride flop-flop, and slow                         in its wake                 When I pull over to repair,                 I see a shortcut.                 Congratulating the athletic soul for trying                 Or acknowledging the intelligent mind for learning                 Is like praising a wheel for turning.
