Touch Me My Friend

By Brazos

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Touch Me, My Friend Shake my hand, that's a quick touch. Cast your arms around me, that's even better. Muss my hair, when you are delighted with me. Drag your hand cross my shoulders passing by. Show me that you love me, not that you want me. The friendly touch is the zenith of expression, and it means more than pure wantoness. For, a lot of people can be wanted for their bodies, but how many can be loved for their souls? The touch of a friend, means endearment, not sex. The better the friend, the more we miss them, when they leave us for a while. And, when they get back, we can't wait to hug them, kiss them, hold their hand, gaze at their face. And it matters not, if we are of the same gender. For that is what true friendship means, it means loving without any strings. And part of that friendship is felt in the loving touch. A slight squeeze, a small caress, that says "don't worry", I still love you my friend, even tho you are surely weird. Touch me my friend, and show your unvarnished love. Not really a poem, but a collection of thoughts. But, it conveys my true feelings; sometimes the stricture of rhyme and meter make that impossible.
