Fantasies

She turns out the light and darkness sets in To keep at bay the torment that tears from within She curls up in her blanket at the end of the day And all of her problems seem to seep away And as her dreams set in she enters her other lives Where there is no pain and only happiness thrives Where she's not the same girl that gets treated like a zero But Joan of Arc, Aphrodite, or some other hero Where she's full of confidance and any problems she meets She finds a way to cope with or simply defeats And her friends and her loved ones are always with her there And her dreams are fulfilled in a world that is fair Yet when she awakes she feels somewhat sad As though being taken from a better life that she at one time had But she can take comfort in the fact that when the day is done She can return to these other lives with the setting of the sunIf our real lives were as good as our dreams, we'd need never sleep.
