The Weary Soldier
I keep trudging on I'm too dead to keep going But I have no choice I fall to the ground "Get up, you can't give up now" but I'm too burnt out "You need to keep on" Just let me rest here a while "You need to get up" Why do I need to? "Because it's your duty to" My duty to whom? "To society" But what if I can't do it? "You don't have a choice" "You have to succeed" "your beliefs aren't important" "We still need you now" I need some rest though "Do you want to let us down?" No, of course I don't "Then get up right now" fine, but you'll have to help me "you'll thank us later"Have you ever felt that you aren't in control of your life? Like you're only doing what you think your family, friends, and peers think you should? I feel this way all the time, and so I wrote a poem about it. It's 8 haiku's together to make the poem.
