Creatures Of The Night

By Buzby

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Sometime after midnight, I can hear you summon me Arising from my bed, I know just where you’ll be I see you in the shadows, dressed in black from head to toe Anywhere you try to take me, you know I’ll have to go Your fangs glint in the moonlight, so gleaming, sharp and white My time is near, soon I will be a creature of the night Your hands reach out to pull me near, your touch provokes a basic fear Buried deep inside my soul, and yet this death has been my goal For many days, and many nights, my time has come it feels so right Your undead lips they press on mine, a line of fear runs up my spine My life is all that you demand, and I must give what you command Over your fangs I run my tongue, it’s nearly here my time has come Your mouth moves down, you tilt my head, soon I too will be undead I gasp in pain as your fangs break skin, holding me tight, your feast begins Drinking the blood that flows from my vein As my life starts to fade, so too does my pain My heartbeat slows down, I sink to my knees Biting your wrist, it’s my turn to feed Craving the blood that flows from your wrist I swallow it down, not a drop can be missed Life starts to flow back into my veins As I drink your blood, you cry out my name Your blood in my veins, you are my sire We are hated and feared, bloodthirsty vampire We fly through the night, in search of our prey Until the first light, until break of day Then entwined in our coffin, we both must lie Until night falls again, and once more we can fly Written November 12th, 2001 © on Nov 12 2001 02:25 AM PST   0 • 10
