In dismal dreams of restless sleep Shadows rule the night In corridors of wake-less thoughts Lie beasts about to bite Within the grasp of slumber You are helpless, gagged and bound At the hands of nightmare visions There’s no mercy to be found Inside the harsh reality Of that which we call sleep Your body thrashes in your bed While gripped in dreams so deep Every fear you ever had Confronts your night time self Sub-conscious ghouls from deep inside Creep up with deadly stealth Sanity slips away from you As tortured souls cry out And with syrupy slow motion You attempt to turn about But this nightmare you created From the fears within your brain Will not be denied the pleasure Of driving you insane So each dream step you take Leads to yet another fear Your brains screams out to ‘wake up’ The only way out of here In sweat drenched sheets, no comfort’s found As morning comes at last Your daytime fears now deluge in As the dream becomes the past Written March 22nd, 2002 © on Mar 21 2002 04:33 PM PST 0 • 1
