King And Queen Of Rainbows

By Catriana Jellyfish

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

It usually begins in a dank, dull corridor Expressionless traffic passing up and down No colour, just a monotone shuffling of tedium. Then in the midst of the blank-faced robots A sudden thrill of colour splashes onto the scene Vibrant colours emerge in two figures of the crowd And for them, the tedium has magically disappeared. All the colours of a thousand imaginations are Concentrated in two figures who are different from that traffic The traffic cannot see them Because after all, they are robots And they don't like to think for themselves. But these two figures are different; drenched in colour Special; but only they can recognise it in each other. Two Colours are together today in the corridor And together they are beautiful Together they are extraordinary. And as the grey blur of normality dissolves into the background The two Colours explode through the foreground. They belong to the universe, but above all they Belong to each other; two Colours radiate laughter and love. If separated, they become cast into the world of monotony But with each other they are swept Into a world all of their own Where they are free to live in love And always be the King and Queen of Rainbows.
