My humble prayer

By Channa

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

As you would a child, you took me by the hand Gave me your wisdom, so I could understand You never walked in front or behind me You were always right here beside me You are my friend, faithful and true Father teach me to love only You Let my ear recognize the sound of Your voice Striving, wanting to make the right choice Be with me for the rest of my life Don't let me say things that would cause useless strife Let love be the mantle that I wear Forgiveness the witness as Your heir Let others see in me the Light of Your Glory Keep me in your shadow, striving for purity I ask of you for the strength to carry my daily simple tasks without any worry And when I fall, please pick me up again Wipe my tears away, remove my heartfelt pain Heal my broken heart with Your gentle touch Teach me to be grateful for little as for much Create in me a heart willing to accept Those of whom society has deemed rejects I want to love them, with a heart like yours, Father I offer you this simple humble prayer.
