Passover Lamb

By Channa

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I was 'baptized' in the river of Jordan not on the lake of Teheran I did not dwell in Constantinople I came to live with my people Yet they did not recognize nor did they realize That it was I who set them free from bondage and slavery I walked with them in the desert For forty years I did assert the leadership over these children and freed them from their burden I became their Passover Lamb they did not understand it was I who lead them on under that hot scorched sun I gave them manna for food they did not obey as they should now here I am in their mist broken and pierced, I didn't resist I died for them, they cannot see that all along it was Me who bought them out of slavery they turned their back, they denied the sacrifice that satisfy the penalty that was theirs I paid gladly to make them heirs I am that Lamb who was slain for perfection you couldn't attain I came to earth to save my own another they'll have, me they disown I love them with an every lasting love I am the Bread of life, the Light from above.
