Prayer for a friend

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Father I come before your Throne Humbly yet boldly I stand alone Father I'm here to ask for a request My soul at present is at rest My L-rd I need from you a favor not for myself, but for another This precious friend you've given me will be with me throughout eternity Greet his mornings with your sweet light dissipating the darkness of the night Shower him with blessings from above Cloak him Father with your mantle of love wrap him in your strong loving arms keep the evil one from doing him harm grant him your strength and your wisdom to bring the last soul to your kingdom sprinkle your grace along his way smoothing the path of his journey stay with him in the path that he takes give him mercy for your name sake be his feet when he is weary comfort him when he is lonely let your words be his spear and the armor that he wears Give him your heart, your compassion for your justice, your mission Encourage him during the day His doubt and hurt, please take away Send your angels to guard his life allowing no one to cause him strife Craddle him gently and take his fears with your soft touch, wipe out his tears I thank you Father for this precious friend May our friendship grow, now until the end, Amen.
