Only fourteen, spirited and carefree one late evening, she confided in me "My dad's just remarried, you see doesn't seem to have time for little old me my mom is working and obviously too busy" she asked candidly "would you be my mommy"? with her strong spirit, and a heart of gold she won me over, I didn't have to be told that with six children of my very own could I take the time for that little soul and be there for her, as I do my own? she had wisdom, way beyond her years a young teenager with a lot of tears how could I say no to this little bird fallen from the nest she needed some rest still a fledgling I took her under my wing she befriend my daughter became her sister was loyal to her she's always been there. As she grew older and she moved away We kept in touch, for her I often prayed Still her strong spirit has always prevailled she gained confidence and remained unspoiled I take great pleasure being around her So...as I look back.... I have no regrets I am so glad I've "adopted" her. Written November 11th, 2001 © on Nov 11 2001 02:37 PM PST   18 • 0 • 9
