Subtle masquerade
By Channa
I wear the mask quite well I seem happy can you tell? my face lights up with a smile But I am cringing all the while. I am laughing like a child Not too tamed, not too wild but looking deep into my eyes You'll see the tears I cry I don myself a subtle guise to the untrained eye I look wise yet behind the quiet air I live a life of despair The choice I opted for Sent me to an unseen door I'm trapped by my own demise tears too often brim my eyes Yet no one should ever detect the lack of love and it's effect I've resigned myself to this road and for my heart I write this ode.
